Beauty: Ugliness and Prettiness



What is Beauty? I'll define beauty as antyhing that can be attractive to the eyes. By this definition, we find two parts on beauty: ugliness and prettiness. In my opinion, ugliness is a form of beauty because it is an attraction, what we can call a negative attraction.


Prettiness is also another kind of beauty which is a positive attraction. Prettiness is a positive attraction because it expresses a positive feelings, an admirable thought toward the object or the art work. Prettiness differenciates itself from ugliness because one is the complementary of the other.


Beauty is a relative concept to inviduals. The way i conceive beauty is not the way my fellows will conceive it. What is beautiful to me might not be beautiful to others. I find abstract portrait or painting beautiful; others might find abstract portrait ridicule. In artworldchicago.com, I consider the "Rock Angel #1" beautiful because it symbolyzes strength
