I was not able to interview this person but her work speaks for her. Shame Face took me by storm simple because the artist painted the posture, shade, shape, her hair to the clothes really spoke out loud. Her facial expression of being that say, How dear you?, or why me? She look as if she is hiding, or covering up what she is ashamed of or shamed about. Her hair is wild and she has posture of security, with her eyes fixed on a suspect. Like someone has betrayed her and took away her innocense.
I love the way Ceasar gave her character the fine definition of skin color, full lips, and coarse black hair. She almost remind me of the movie with Diana Ross, "Out Of Darkness", with the sense of her manic state of being. But this lady look as if somebody took something from her without her permission. Her fist is in the position of clinching with strength but protection of herself. Her guarding pose and dearing look speak so many words that I can draw so many meanings from this painting. It's a image that has so many meanings.
I wish I was able to interview Karhonda Ceasar about this painting. I would have like to have know her inspiration behind this piece of art. I looked for a biography on her but I could not find one. She is very new to the artworld but will be very famous very soon with art like this. I love it!!!!! I what it feels like to be shamed and ashamed. I believe everybody has had or will have their day in that experience. But the art spoke volume in this work and the title gave it much justice. Karhonda Ceasar a young lady who will soon be known for expressing feelings through art. http://heritagesart.com/catalog/reviews.php?page=11
