The theme of the tableau is in contrast to the font. By listening to the title, someone would not want to see the work because the title talks about death, and death makes people scared. However, the different colors that Mr. San Miguel use makes his work attractive. The background is blue and a skull is made on it with white dot points and something like a flame in yellow. Blue, white, and yellow express joy, comfort, and confidence, but they do not translate madness, sadness, and fear. Here is the contrast between the theme, “Death From Above” and the materials use in the front.
Mr. San Miguel understands that from above death is not what people think. That is the reason why he represents death in space with those joyful colors. By seeing the tableau, I can see he makes the difference between death and life. Death is the opposite of life. If people worry when they were living, so no reason for them to worry in their death because they will not know anything. Death is a situation of peace of mind. The sculpture of Mr. David San Miguel is very contrast, complex, and simple that makes it abstract and beautiful.
